Norwalk High School invites community members to celebrate the accomplishments of the Norwalk High School girls basketball team, Norwalk High School Marching Band, and individual state champions in wrestling, diving and boys tennis on April 7. The Celebration of Excellence Rally will take place at the Norwalk High School Testa Field from 4-7pm. This free event is open to families, students, staff and members of the community. Food trucks will be available for purchases.

Additionally, the NHS girls basketball team will be honored at a banquet complete with a ring ceremony and proclamation. The team recently defeated New London 55-53 in the Class LL Championship. A large audience of NPS students, parents, educators, administrators and community leaders traveled to the event at Mohegan Sun to cheer on the team.

Celebration of Excellence Rally honorees include:

+ Norwalk High School state championship girls basketball team

+ Diver Kevin Bradley, Norwalk-McMahon swim team member & Open diving champion

+ Sam White, Norwalk High School Bears’ wrestler & State Open title winner at 120lbs

+ Prem Dave and Taishi Hosokawa, Class LL and State Open Boys Doubles Champions in tennis in 2018

These students, along with the number one triple jumper champion in the country, Justin Forde, of Brien McMahon, will also be featured in this year’s annual Memorial Day Parade. As in years past, the Norwalk High School and Brien McMahon Marching Bands will perform in the parade, as will NPS schools, teams and groups from across the district.

Norwalk‘s annual Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to be held on May 27. Traditionally, the parade begins at 10am at Veterans Park in Norwalk, and ends at the Town Green on East Avenue. A host of civic organizations, Scout troops, youthful athletic teams, and community groups have marched in the parade over the years to honor those who lost their lives while serving our country.
