Get In The Summer Reading Game!

Find adventure and fun this summer by looking no further than a book! Students and their families are invited to participate in the 2018 Norwalk Summer Reading Challenge in partnership with the Norwalk Public Library by registering hereThis year’s theme is “The Summer Game - READ, REST, REPEAT.”  The game begins on June 3rd and ends on August 31st. Students will receive badges, raffle tickets, and prizes for their participation in the summer reading program.

Not sure what to read? The NPS reading list has something for everyone from a story about a little girl who fought against the odds to play music in “Ada’s Violin,” to a biography of America’s most famous traitor in “The Notorious Benedict Arnold: A True Story of Adventure, Heroism & Treachery.” Students can choose books from the below summer reading lists, or they can choose their own books.

2018 K-4 Summer Reading List Elementary School

2018 Grades 5-7 Summer Reading List Middle School

2018 Grades 8-11 Summer Reading List High School

Through this program, Norwalk Public Schools will be able to compete with other Connecticut schools in CONNECTICUT READS, the 2018 Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Reading during the summer reduces summer learning loss and prepares students for the new school year. We encourage students to read many books this summer, as research shows that this can help maintain a child’s reading level and even improve their reading skills.
