Beginning on August 18, 2015, Norwalk Board of Education meetings will be available to watch live online via a real-time video stream, announced Mike Lyons, Chairman, Norwalk Board of Education.

“We are very pleased to add yet another way to make sure members of the public can stay informed about Board of Education business,” said Lyons.  “With meetings available via live streaming, Norwalk residents can now watch meetings in real time simply by logging onto a computer.  It’s a great option for parents and other members of the community who want to stay on top of what’s going on with our schools, but who have other commitments and can’t always attend meetings in person.”

The Norwalk Public School’s YouTube channel was launched in 2014 to house videos of Board of Education meetings and other school-related topics.  Since then, more than 1,800 views have been recorded for past Board of Education meetings.

The ability to live stream meetings is a new enhancement that was tested in July, according to Ralph Valenzisi, Chief of Technology, Innovation and Partnerships for Norwalk Public Schools.  “Live streaming is now a popular way to connect people and events,” said Valenzisi. “Because we are already recording our meetings and placing them online for people to watch later, it just made sense to take the next step so that people can also watch meetings as they happen.”

Members of the public can access the meetings through the Norwalk Public School’s YouTube channel:  Links to the District’s YouTube channel, as well as the NPS Facebook page and Twitter account, are also available at the top left corner of the NPS website homepage.  Videotaped meetings will continue to air on Cablevision Channel 78 within a few days after each meeting, and will also continue to be stored on the YouTube channel.

Regular Board of Education meetings are scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of each month, with special meetings as circumstances required.  Meetings begin at 7 p.m.  Visit for the most recent updates.
