Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4, 2015 - May 8, 2015

The Norwalk Board of Education is proud to recognize the week of May 4, 2015 as Teacher Appreciation Week in Norwalk.

In Norwalk, we have more than 900 certified teachers. It is no exaggeration to say that they are backbone of Norwalk Public Schools. Both here and across the country, teachers are the single most influential factor in a child’s educational experience.  Teachers hold their students to high expectations, challenge them to think critically, push them to excel in the face of obstacles, and guide their development into contributing citizens.  They encourage students to display creativity and imagination, and they help develop a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.

Our dedicated teachers are entrusted with the education and intellectual development of our children. But they also fill many roles, as listeners, role models, motivators and mentors. Teachers continue to influence their students long after they have graduated to college or careers.

By recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week, the Board of Education joins with students, families, and members of the community in recognizing our talented, committed, tireless and inspirational teachers.  We are extremely grateful for the work they do.  We urge everyone to take the time this week to recognize and acknowledge the impact teachers have on our lives.
