The Norwalk Education Foundation (NEF), The Norwalk Federation of Teachers (NFT) and Norwalk Public Schools (NPS) are gearing up for the second annual Excellence in Educational awards on April 26 at the Doubletree in Norwalk. New to the event this year are The Excellence in Educational Support awards, which were designed to honor non-certified staff members who have earned the respect and admiration of students, teachers, administrators, co-workers and parents. A list of this year's honorees can be found here.

Event tickets are available on a first come, first served basis through Eventbrite for a cost of $45 per ticket. However, last year’s event was sold out in advance. Doors will open at 5:30pm for hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, followed by a buffet dinner and awards presentation.

GE, Mutual Security Credit Union, YMCA, Oldham Resource Group, and Fairfield County’s Community Foundation will sponsor the celebration.

Now in its second year, the Excellence in Education awards recognize Norwalk’s certified teachers for excellence in our schools. Finalists will be honored for their work in raising the bar and closing the achievement gap. School Governance Council members selected finalists from nominations submitted at each school. Similar to last year, nominated teachers are also  given the opportunity to apply for NPS Teacher of the Year, in alignment with the State’s Teacher of the Year program.
